Gabriel Sánchez-Martínez is a lecturer and research associate with expertise in information technology applications for public transportation operations. His work integrates optimization, simulation modeling, and computational analysis of transit data. In his doctoral research, Gabriel developed a holding control optimization model reflecting dynamic running times and demand, and proposed a schedule-free paradigm for real-time operations planning of high-frequency transit. His master's research focused on running time variability and resource allocation in high-frequency bus systems, with applications in London Buses. Gabriel teaches 1.258 - Public Transportation Systems. He has consulted for the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation, developing running time analysis capabilities, assisting in the evaluation of bus network restructuring options, and developing a real-time monitoring system for the bus operations control center. He is a National Science Foundation graduate research fellow and an Eno fellow. He holds an MS and a PhD in Transportation from MIT and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez.
